Worker of seventeen years in squashed by a
fork-lift truck - New York

EVENTS
The 10 of 2000 July,
a worker 17 years (the victim) working in an operation of scrap iron recovery is
mortally wounded when upsetting the fork-lift truck that lead. The conductor had
offered to approach a companion who returned to work. It had accepted and
mounted astride on the right side of the fork-lift truck, maintained on a high
nail. To about 100 meters, the victim turns abruptly to the left, and the
fork-lift truck upsets on the right side. The worker jumped of the machine while
the victim was sent of the seat of the conductor. The head of the victim I am
catched between the high nail and the ground while the ankle of the worker was
squashed by the machine. Other workers heard shouts and were towards the
fork-lift truck. They raised the machine to release to the worker and removed to
the victim from the high nail. The personnel of the emergency was notified and
arrived at the 15 minutes. The victim was transported to a local casualty
department where its death was determined. The worker was transported to a local
casualty department where him treatment of minor wounds in the ankle.
